Nokia 8.3 5G is currently the highest specced Nokia smartphone that is launched in 2020 and apart from being the 1st 5G Nokia smartphone the other main highlight of this phone is the Quad Camera setup at the back with ZEISS optics.
To recall, the phone has a 64MP main camera, a 12MP Ultra Wide-angle camera that has large 2.8μm Superpixels, a 2MP Macro and a 2MP depth sensor. Nokia Mobile is pushing the phone for its camera capabilities and the promotional video of the Nokia 8.3 5G shows a new feature added in the video mode called ZEISS Cinematic effects. The effects include Anamorphic and blue flares that can be added to the videos to make them look epic. Another big feature of the Nokia 8.3 5G is the 12MP ultra wide-angle camera with a large pixel size of 2.8μm which will be well suited to record in low light scenarios.

The device is still not on sale so up until now we didn't know what other new features it will bring but thanks to singhnsk from TechMesto who got hold of the Nokia Camera app that ships with the Nokia 8.3 5G, we now know all the new features coming with the device including some of the highly requested ones on the Nokia Community forum. You guys will be very happy to know about these new features so let's jump straight on to the feature list.
Video Editor, H-Log Format and Pro Mode in Video through a dedicated "Cinema Mode"
Video recording in H-Log format
Nokia Mobile is pretty serious about video recording this time and has added an option that allows recording videos in H-log format. This allows capturing HDR videos which have more details in highlight and shadow regions of the video. H-log format will output uncompressed video that will have low contrast and look desaturated but is well suited for post-processing. As the recorded video is in log format, users can further tweak the video in post-production using the built-in Cinema Editor which also includes an option for colour grading.
Video Editor
During the launch of Nokia 8.3 5G, Nokia Mobile introduced ZEISS Cinematic effects which can be added to the videos recorded on the Nokia 8.3 5G. Video Editor is where users can add those ZEISS Cinematic effects like anamorphic and blue flares to their videos. The Cinema Editor works straight from the gallery.
Video Pro-Mode
As the name suggests, this is the Pro Mode for the video camera and allows full manual control. It allows setting ISO, Shutter Speed, Exposure, Focus and White Balance. This feature was requested many times on the community forum and it feels nice to see Nokia Mobile delivering on it.
Not everyone wants full manual control while recording videos so Nokia Mobile has kept the regular video recording mode in the camera app too. This should keep the majority of users happy and will allow them to record good videos in Auto Mode too. The Video mode also supports OZO Windscreen which helps in reducing wind noise in the videos.

Watermarks are back and bring a lot of options along
You see that? That's a pretty nice looking watermark, isn't it? And that's just one of the 8 different options to choose from in the Nokia 8.3 5G's camera app. Watermarks were present on many first and second-generation Nokia smartphones but the newer phones didn't have that feature in the camera app. This disappointed a lot of Nokia users who prefer to have a watermark on their captured photos and had been requesting Nokia Mobile to add the watermark option back in the camera app. Nokia Mobile has finally listened and brought back the Watermark option in the Nokia Camera app on Nokia 8.3 5G and it gives users a lot of different choices of watermarks.
Users can select a Personal Message, Device Information or a personalised image as a watermark. The image above has the combination of Personal Message and Device Information in the watermark. There are a total of 8 different styles to choose from which you can see in the image below.

Nokia 8.3 5G will be on sale in the coming months and bring all these new features along with it. These new features make the Nokia 8.3 5G look even more appealing now and hopefully will also perform very well in real-world usage. Nokia Mobile is focussed on improving the camera experience on Nokia smartphones and it will be very useful to have basic features like the Watermark bring brought to other Nokia smartphones via a software update over time.
You should definitely check out the complete hands-on with the Camera app of Nokia 8.3 5G done by TechMesto.
