Nokia Mobile has just taken the wraps off the all-new Nokia 2.3 at the event held in Cairo. Nokia 2.3 is a budget smartphone that brings AI-assisted smart features for improved camera performance along with big display and beautiful textured design. Nokia 2.3 also brings back the large 4000 mAh battery that the "Nokia 2" line up was known for.
Nokia 2.3 is a beautiful looking phone. It brings back the 3D nano-textured back which we last saw on the Nokia 1 Plus. The 3D nano-textured back helps in getting a firm grip and the chassis inside the phone is made from diecast aluminium giving it solid structural durability. Nokia 2.3 comes in three striking colour options to choose from Sand, Cyan Green and Charcoal and the textured back will add to the overall look and in-hand feel of the device.
Nokia 2.3 is powered by a Mediatek A22 processor and comes in 2GB RAM and 32GB storage configuration. Providing 32GB as the base internal storage on a budget phone is one of the best decisions by Nokia Mobile. The front of the Nokia 2.3 is covered by a 6.2" 19:9 HD+ display with a waterdrop notch. Big display will consume more battery and with Nokia 2.3 comes back the huge 4000mAh battery which coupled with AI-assisted Adaptive Brightness and Adaptive battery features should easily last for a whole day and even longer with moderate usage.
One of the main highlights of the budget Nokia 2.3 is its cameras. Nokia 2.3 comes with Dual rear camera where the main shooter is a 13MP sensor with f2.2 aperture and the other is a 2MP sensor for depth sensing. Nokia 2.3 comes with new blur effects in the Portrait mode such as Classic, Butterfly, Heart, Snow or Star-shaped styles.
With Nokia 2.3, Nokia Mobile introduced a new feature called the "Recommended Shot". When you capture a motion photo, the camera automatically captures 15 images before you click the shutter and 15 more images after the shutter is clicked. The camera then recommends the best shot out of all the images captured. This feature is very similar to the old Nokia Lumia Camera app's Smart Sequence mode which did a similar thing of recommending the "Best Shot" out of the few captured frames. Smart Sequence mode had many more options such as removing moving objects, Action Shot and Motion Focus which I feel can be implemented here as well.
At the front, Nokia 2.3 has a 5 MP snapper with f2.4 aperture. The front camera also comes in use for Face Unlock as the phone does not have a Fingerprint scanner.
Coming to the software side of things, Nokia 2.3 is an Android One phone and comes with Android Pie out of the box with Android 10 promised to be coming soon. I feel it should have been shipped with Android 10 out of the box but considering the budget price I won't complain much. Also, Being an Android One device, Nokia 2.3 will be receiving two major android update and three years of regular monthly security patches.
Nokia 2.3 will be available in Charcoal, Cyan Green and Sand colour options and will go on sale from Mid December with price starting at around 109 euros. Check out the Nokia 2.3 Product Page.
